Question Number 8.

Do you think there should be some manner of climbing competition(s) in the Olympics?
If so, what suggestions do you have for scoring, course design, judging and related overall parameters of Olympic climbing events.

Definitely should be in.

Yes, I believe that including climbing in the Olympics would be a great opportunity for the world to see what our sport is really about. The Olympics ideally share and promote the same goals as climbers (sportsmanship, hardwork, and doing lots of drugs)

NO,Climbing should not be a competition. Granted it takes skill to climb but when you turn it into a competition I think that you end up missing the point. It's not you agenst him, It's you agenst the rock .

No. And for same reasons others have mentioned. The more mainstream climbing becomes, the more crowded the rock will be.

It's a bit selfish but I agree with No. We have enough stuff going on as is. Between Hollywood and the T.V. commercial's we don't have a chance at a low profile.

No. Recognition is not worth the price of hype generated. It is bad enough as it is.

Yes, eventually, it has to evolve a bit, but the time will come that we will see climbing as an Olympic event(s); bouldering, speed, difficulty and ice, any or all of these events have potential to evolve into Olympic events, and probably aren't as far off as we would think. I think it would be great for the sport.

I agree with Dave. Indeed there's a lot of politics in the Olympics which I think most climbers wouldn't want to be involved in.

I don't see a huge point to adding more sports to the olympics. Are current competition systems not enough? How many do we really need? I fail to see the point in adding it to the Olympics. If you want to compete, there are already plenty of other venues, and if you don't want to compete, does this question matter?
