PBC Special EventsClick here for a schedule of these events. 2nd Overstock.com "Dyno" Competition:- The first 30 Men and 20 Women PBC competitors (that on-site register) attempt a variety of dynamic lunges in a 1 Round Event. Each successful lunge earns a point value; the harder the lunge the higher the point value. An event that is fun to watch especially considering that the competitors are very tired after competing in the PBC. You will be amazed at just how far some of the climbers can lunge or how they "stick" the target hold. 2nd Sterling Rope "Tug-of-War" Competition:- 4 or 8 or 16 "Coed" teams (5 persons in a team) go at each other in a single-pull "head-to-head" elimination round. To start, a random draw will determine which team goes against which team. Last year, this event was a hit for competitor and spectator alike. FYI - this year, the PBC will have much better surface for the competition. We will ask that all competitors wear closed shoes so don't forget to bring some! In other words, TEVAS will not be allowed. Superior Mystery Challenge:- A limit of 10 "Coed" teams (3 persons in a team) must perform a series of activities that test their strength and ability to work together as a team. These activities will remain a mystery until the competition starts. Something similar last year was done as part of the Superior Desert Dare (an adventure sprint race). This event promises to be a "hoot" not only for the competitors but also for spectators. PBC "Pro" Clinics:- The PBC will present one (1) or two (2) clinics by famous climbers/competitors who will give you valuable suggestions on how to become a better climber and/or competitor. These informal discussions allow you not only to listen to these "pros" but also to ask questions. You are never too old or wise to learn something new!!! Access Fund Panel Discussion:- A great opportunity to be brought up-to-date on the most recent Access Fund issues and to hear prominent climbers from all aspects of the climbing world (competitors, gym owners, magazine representatives, famous climbers, etc.) discuss an important issue facing the climbing world. All are welcome to attend and give their input. The Access Fund faces very serious issues and wants to know what we as climbers think and feel. Trango/Stonewears Pancake Breakfast:- Come stuff yourself with great pancakes, etc. courtesy of Trango/Stonewears the morning after the PBC. Great opportunity to brag about your performance in the Contest or your wild antics at the party afterwords! |
